ADC with Grandpa

My Grandfather eventually passed away in 1999.  His hospice care became too much for me to handle so he was put into a nursing home for his final days.  I received the news of his passing through an ADC prior to receiving the telephone call.

A poke

I was visiting my Dad and was sleeping in one morning.  I was awakened by someone poking me in the side.  I woke up and looked around the room and there was no one in the room.

I tried to roll over and go back to sleep when I was nudged again.

I thought it was strange and trying to wake up to get my bearings.  I heard the telephone ring and my Dad called out and told me I had a telephone call from my Mom.  He told me that she had some bad news for me.

I got on the line and was told that my Grandfather had passed away the day before.

It was something I was expecting.  I felt my Grandpa wasn't long for this world without my Grandma around to look after him.

I walked back in the room and silently said,

"If that is your spook nudging me like you did to wake me up - go away.  I don't believe in spooks no more.   I don't want you disturbing my peace of mind with haunting visions of you to carry around the rest of my life."

I was laughing and joking when I said that.  Trying to remind my Grandpa of the conversation we had shared after he had a sighting of my Grandpa a few months prior.

I felt my Grandfather was poking me in an effort to let me know his spirit was fine and well on the other side.
